Spring in Colorado

Well I can't complain b/c we've had a fairly benign winter, but we finally got a big snow storm this past weekend. Needless to say Lauren enjoyed her indoor activities for a few days.

"I love my Bumbo!"

At least someone is enjoying the 18 inches of snow!

March....can you believe it!!

Quick Video Clip - Star Time

Here's a quick clip of Lauren and Daddy playing with her beloved star.

New Pics and Lauren Update

Sorry it has been so long since an update, but things have continued to be pretty busy at our house. Lauren is doing great! She finally started sleeping in her crib much to her parents' amazement. She is growing like a weed and is becoming more playful everyday. She still loves her star and playing on her mat. Her favorite though is playing "tennis" and going "fishing" with dad. She'll be going for her 4 month appointment in 3 weeks, so we'll see how her weight is progressing. She's definitely a tall girl though. At 3 1/2 mos. she's already outgrowing 3-6 month sized pants.

I've started back at work part-time (2 nights/week) and dad is doing a great job with just the two of them. He's got some magical Zen power to get her to burp that no one else has been able to master :) Lot's of excitement on the career front for James too. He recently started his own business to business consulting company and will be up and running in his new office by beginning of May. We are very excited for this great opportunity and are looking forward to him not having to travel as much as he used to.

Next week we'll be heading down to Texas for Easter. Hopefully I can get the Easter dress pics up on the blog in a bit more timely fashion. For now, here some more recent pics of Lauren.

Sleeping in her Bobby...very rare!

St. Patrick's Day fun!!

The morning after the first night in her crib! She's such a wiggle worm we've since gotten rid of all positioners so she can travel around in her crib.

First nature walk in her new walking stroller.

Day at the Zoo and Obama too!

On Tuesday we had great weather in Denver, so James and I decided to take Lauren on her first trip to the zoo. She pretty much just slept through the whole thing, but it was a fun outing for mom and dad. She did wake up long enough for a photo op with the elephants and a picnic lunch at Duck Pond.

"Dad fought off geese so mom could eat her lunch...you're my hero!"
Soaking in some rays...don't worry, she only saw the light of day for about 2 minutes :)

Later that night, I was changing her on the couch and noticed that she was absolutely enthralled by Obama's speech to Congress.

We might have a future politician on our hands...yikes!!

2 months checkup

Lauren had her 2-month checkup on Feb. 19th. Everything looks good according to Dr. Murphy. She's 24 inches long and 10lbs 6 oz which makes her in the 75% for height and 40% for weight. She got her first series of immunizations and other than one minor meltdown, handled her shots like a pro. (The crying in the picture is actually because we made her get dressed...likes to be naked!). Dr. Murphy says we don't have to make the dreaded transition from sleeping in her carseat to sleeping in her crib for another couple of months still. Needless to say that was a relief to hear. We'll continue with our current feeding plan since her stomach seems to be tolerating it much better. So basically that means no queso for mom for awhile still and ridiculously expensive formula for Lauren...just like my daughter to have expensive taste :)

More Dallas pics...

Lauren also got a chance to visit her Great-Grandmother Lyons while we were in Dallas. These "happy Lauren" pics came after Grandmother was kind enough to feed our little piglet.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Lauren wore her first dress on Valentine's Day to a friend's birthday. She is quite the social butterfly and loved being around new people.

We tried her in her party shoes but her feet aren't quite big enough yet :)

Baby Einstein to the Rescue

Lauren's favorite activity for the last couple of weeks has been her Baby Einstein mat. She can spend long periods of time just staring at the singing, light up star.

8 weeks and counting

Lauren turned 8 weeks on Feb. 13th. She's definitely starting to be more interactive and loves to smile and play (when she's full and not sleepy of course). She's sleeping 3-4 hours at a time at night now, but still will only sleep in her carseat. Mom and Dad are going to have to be brave and kick her out soon. Needless to say she won't be happy about that :) For now though, one of her favorite activities is to play in her Boppy.

"One of these days I'll get this darn fist in my mouth!"

Trip to Dallas

When she turned 6 weeks, Lauren went on her first airplane ride. The thought of her in an enclosed, quiet space with lots of other people really terrified her mom...but it turns out nothing makes Lauren sleep quite like an airplane. She slept from when we entered the airport in Denver to when we were collecting our baggage in Dallas and ditto on the flight home. Lauren had a great time with her Nana and Grandad and all her great-aunts and Great-Granny's on both sides. And mom really enjoyed some free babysitting! Here's a picture of four generations of our family.
Great-granny still's got the touch :)
